5 Tips for Better Lips

Gigis Bluffton - Thursday, June 12, 2014

In the south, we girls like our lipstick and lip gloss. An outfit is not complete, a make-up look is not finished, with out a beautiful shade on your lips.  At Gigi's Boutique in Bluffton, we carry some of the best lip colors and finishes out there: Butter by London.  We love their natural shades and vibrant hues for a fun night out.  It's not uncommon that we have a few tucked in our handbag.  Today we are sharing some of our favorite lip tips by beauty experts with our Gigi's readers!

1) No need to match your lipstick to your outfit. This was common practice in the '60's and '70's but no longer considered necessary.  You should choose your color based on your skin tone and over all make-up look.  If you are going for dark and smoky eyes, choose a light lip color.  When you want to go bold on the lips, scale back on the eyes!

2) Drink plenty of water! Like the rest of your body, when not properly hydrated, lips will lose their fullness and look dry. Ensuring that your body is well hydrated will make everything look younger and better, not just your lips!

3) Protect them from the sun. Use an SPF 15 or higher lip balm to keep them from burning in the hot Lowcountry sun. Look for hydrating ingredients like shea butter or vitamin E when buying a balm. Apply frequently.

4) To get fuller looking lips, use a lip liner that's darker than your lipstick and fully line your lips.  Then add the lipstick. This will plump them up a bit.

5) Choose a look that's natural for you. To get the most out of your money, choose a color that you are sure you will wear frequently. If it's too far out of your comfort zone, it will just end up sitting there.

There you have it! Just 5 tips for better lips. Come in and see all the shades by Butter by London that we have to offer and more beauty products that we now carry! We hope to see you soon at Gigi's Boutique in Bluffton!
