How To: Spring Transition

Gigis Bluffton - Monday, January 26, 2015

With the excitement of new Spring fashion around the corner, it can be bitter sweet to say goodbye to your favorite Winter pieces. But no need to be blue just yet, with a few tweaks you can transition them into Spring.

1. Distressed Denim. This trend will actually be continuing into Spring. Holla! Try pairing a loose, silk top with these. Step out of your boots and closed toed shoes and try a sandal, peep toe, or pointy heel.

2. Winter Coat. Weather it's a coat or fur vest, it for sure can take you through the chilly days of January and February. For Spring, try it over nautical stripes or silk dresses. fur vest would       also look great over this stripe dress.

 3. Chunky Sweater. So soft and comfy, how can we ever give up a staple in our wardrobe??? For Spring, try it over a dress or maxi skirt. If it's a bit long, you can always add a belt.

4. Heavy Scarf: Scarves are the icing on the cake. They can make an instant outfit. By pairing the right shades with your Winter scarf, it can easily transition into Spring. If the scarf has dark colors, balance them will light ones in your outfit. Like white or cream pants. Or, have fun with texture by mixing a knitted scarf with a light, silk blouse.

A quick tip for an instant transition?… paint your nails! We love our Butter London Nail Polish, and look to them for all the newest and coolest polish colors. Check out this photo of the linear look Kate Spade has going on.

Beauty Report: All About Nails

Gigis Bluffton - Thursday, May 01, 2014

During the cold winter months, Gigi's Girls noticed a lot of dark polished nails on the runways and around town. The fabulous Kate Middleton was spotted wearing this deep purple that we thought was just perfection!

But as the weather is warming up, we are seeing lighter polishes and a lot of "barely there" shades of nail lacquer. A few months ago at The Oscars, celebs were sporting soft, pale and romantic hues.  This nail look at the Oscars was reported by All Lacquered Up and we had to share.  What do you think of this trend in nails? We adore the classic and timeless look.

Gigi's Boutique is pleased to carry Butter Nail Polish in a wide variety of shades, including this barely there look and dark shades, too!  While in store, you can pick one up to bring to your favorite nail salon, or do it yourself at home! (The tip to a great at-home manicure is to ensure you have plenty of time to dry!  Make sure kids are asleep, dishes are done, laundry is folded.  Turn on your favorite hour long show and just relax!)

You'll notice too from some of the celebrity photos that there's a trend of "oval" shaped nails. When you sit down for a manicure, usually they'll ask: "square or round?" when they are filing.  A new way to "wear" your nails is to have them shaped oval.  Try this trend on your next manicure at the salon, or at your next in-home mani!   Let us know what you think of Butter and share how you are wearing your nails this Spring 2014.
